Elaine Unterhalter is Professor of Education and International Development, University College London, Institute of Education and Co-Director of the Centre for Education and International Development (CEID). She has worked on research projects on education equalities in a number of countries in Africa and published widely on comparative and international education.

She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2020.
