Scottish Funding Council
The Scottish Funding Council distributes GCRF funding to Scottish universities for research on global development challenges.
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy allocates GCRF funding to the four UK Higher Education Funding Councils for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland:
- Research England: part of UKRI
- Department for Education Northern Ireland (DfENI)
- Scottish Funding Council (SFC)
- Higher Education Funding Council Wales (HEFCW)
These administrations in turn allocate GCRF funding to universities, based on the overall quality of their research and GCRF strategies. All the devolved administrations provide funding from GCRF to support research and associated activities that address the challenges faced by developing countries.
